Question: I have some scarring on my face. Can you recommend make-up to conceal it?
‘If the scars are fresh, do not apply make-up until any stitches are removed and the skin has healed,’ says Dr Noor Almaani, a consultant dermatologist at The Private Clinic of Harley Street.
‘Keep your routine simple and try to use the bare minimum, cutting out toners and exfoliants. Go for mineral product ranges, such as BareMinerals (bareminerals.co.uk), and keep the area well moisturised with Vaseline twice daily.
‘It is also important to use sun protection to reduce pigmentation at the site of the scarring.’
For older scars, Colorescience is a calming mineral range. The Skin Calming Primer SPF20 (£38, beauty-product-online.co.uk) will help to soothe irritated skin and reduce any discolouration or redness in the scar.
Another great option for older scars is AmazingConcealer (£29.50, marksandspencer.com), which comes in ten shades and conceals everything from dark circles to rosacea and scarring.
